Being a member of our cooperative provides many unique benefits - one of them being the ability to have you voice heard in our annual Board election process. This is a critical function to our Association and enables us to ensure we provide our members with the best possible experience.
As we look ahead to our 2025 election, we wanted to share a few updates with you and what you can expect to see on your ballot this fall.
- To ensure adequate and equitable stockholder representation across election regions, from both a market and commodity standpoint, we have reduced the number of election regions from seven to six. Please refer to the image below for the updated election region map.
- With the resignation of a Director from our current Southwestern Pennsylvania Election Region, upon thorough review of our Board’s size and governance structure, our Board has decided to collapse this seat, effective immediately.
- In addition, effective with the results of our 2028 election, our Board voted to collapse one additional seat, currently in the Northwestern Pennsylvania Region, upon completion of the current Board member’s term. At the end of 2028, our Board will total 18 Directors (16 stockholder-elected and two outside).

As of February 27, 2025, the below chart indicates how many voting stockholders are located in each election region.
- When are elections held?
Our annual elections are held each fall, with ballots typically mailing in November and due in early December.
- Who is eligible to vote?
To be eligible to vote in our elections, you must be a member-owner and stockholder of Horizon Farm Credit.

- How many Directors are representing each election region?
The below chart indicates how many Directors currently represent each election region and state seat as of February 27, 2025, and the total after the downsizing plan is complete in 2028.
- Who can we vote for?
Member-owners can vote for any open Director seat, as well as the members of our Nominating Committee. Farm Credit Directors serve four-year terms, and Nominating Committee members serve a one-year term.
